Bio

Prior to going back to the practice of law and serving as mediator and arbitrator, Jason was the Executive Vice President of a large regional commercial general contractor. He assisted the executive and management teams with all facets of the company and its construction operations totaling over $120 million annually. He gained valuable experience and a deep level of understanding how commercial construction companies operate and succeed.

Prior to that industry experience he was a construction lawyer for over 22 years with a focus on construction litigation. Before forming a construction specialty law firm with his partners (2004) he served as special counsel on Legislative Affairs to Governor George W. Bush, built his own construction law practice as a solo practitioner and worked at a large Austin law firm. He often litigated and arbitrated complex construction disputes before judges, arbitrators and juries.

Texas Board of Legal Specialization - Construction LawJason was one of the first Texas attorneys to be Board Certified in Construction Law in 2017. He is credited with being responsible for creating Board Certification for Texas construction lawyers in 2016 and was awarded the Texas Board of Legal Specialization Tom Garner Award in 2017 for his leadership in creating Board Certification for Texas construction lawyers.

Jason was also designated a Texas Super Lawyer (construction) in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2021 & 2024. He was also a certified by the U.S. Green Building Council as a LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Associate. He has served as a guest lecturer at the University of Texas School of Engineering (Project Controls). He has published articles and presented seminar papers and continuing legal education seminars on a variety of construction law subjects.


Jason received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s Law School (1993) and his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin (1990) where he majored in political science with a minor in history. He also studied under United States Supreme Court Justice A. Scalia at the University of Innsbruck’s Institute on World Legal Problems in Innsbruck, Austria (1992).
